Retro style is always fun. Now add the shimmer of the holidays. I found some swoon-worthy retro holiday dresses.
Get ready for some rich colors, dazzling fabrics, and adorable plaid prints. Although I like red, I went all in greens and teals this year (even if we aren’t going anywhere). You know that I like some retro. Check out this post here. I feel that an outfit can tell a story. The story here is “to make magic even when things are difficult”. Alright, let’s go!

Just like velvet
First, this velvet dress! I have one other item in my closet that is velvet – a blazer. That’s it. So, this was definitely a style risk. I just loved the color as soon as I saw it! Although the velvet was something different, the cut of this dress was a familiar formula: A-line, fit and flair, and wrap style neck. The perfect holiday dress. I added a belt for more structure too. I’m wearing a petticoat as well to add more volume to the silhouette. Also, don’t worry that ornament I throwing is plastic. I’m wearing a size xxl in this dress.
My tree is all blues, teals, silvers, and white this year. I like to do that to change it up sometimes!

Mad for Plaid
Second, you know that being different is my thing. They had this holiday dress in red. I opted for green for more of a retro vibe. Likewise, added a mesh turtleneck underneath. My petticoat added some volume for this dress too. Then I put on some basic black pumps. As you can tell, I had so much fun with this look. I’m wearing an xxl.

that’s a wrap
Lastly, I forgot how much I adore the jewel tones that show up in the fall and winter. This hunter green is moody and vibrant at the same time. It just reminds me of old Hollywood glamour with bold red lip. In addition to the color, I needed this sweater dress since it is a wrap style AND midi length. Two styles I love! This dress can be glammed up with a metallic heel as a holiday dress. Conversely, wear it toned down with a nude heel like I have on here. Additionally, this dress along with the other ones on this post come in range of colors. I’m wearing a xl.
