Want to wear neutrals in a way that is not boring? I got a couple of ways to rock these gorgeous tones in a way that won’t make you snooze. Continue Reading
As I get more comfortable with myself, I get more into fitted items I wouldn’t have worn before. Turtlenecks are one of those pieces that were once on my “don’t” list. Now they are a basic that I wear in a variety of ways!
Listen to this episode:
I first talked about turtlenecks in 2017. I mentioned that in a previous relationship, I was told that I shouldn’t wear turtlenecks “because of my size”. Here’s the awesome part, I was actually thinner back then. Nonsense! Although I had gotten to the point of layering a turtleneck, I wasn’t comfortable wearing it just as a top just yet. It was a process! I slowly started wearing them on their own and haven’t looked back.

"All hail the turtleneck as this winter's wardrobe MVP."

Here are the ways that I wear my turtlenecks:
Wear it with
First, I feel like this is a super easy outfit to throw together! Moreover, a peacoat is another wardrobe staple to have in your closet. I paired a turtleneck with a long coat too. You can see that look here.
Why this works: This is a simple look that is timeless and classic. Two things that always work!

Next, this is one of my favorite looks. A basic turtleneck with a girly tulle skirt. Can you believe this skirt is thrifted? I have another tulle skirt that is thrifted that you can see here. Likewise, add a beret and your friends and family will think you are over the top. But you know they will secretly like it!
Why this works: The mix of fitted and classic with whimsical tells a story.
Moreover, a turtleneck is chic on its own. Hold on, now add a blazer to look to elevate your look. I like my blazers to be fitted. However, I think you can do an oversized blazer and still look smashing.
Additionally, I opt for thin turtlenecks for this layered look. That way I am not adding too much volume to my frame.
Why this works: A blazer is an easy way to pull an outfit together. You instantly look polished.
Finally, a turtleneck in a print is the most recent addition to my closet. I hadn’t worn something like this since maybe middle school? Anyway, I like that this is a thin top so I can tuck it in. Moreover, I like that it is a floral print on black. That makes it so easy to wear it with other fall/winter items.
Why this works: A small print and thin fabric allows for this turtleneck to be layered. Also, the small print means it won’t overwhelm an outfit. Therefore, the chic turtleneck vibes remain intact!
