Even though thrifting takes time, there are ways to make sure your trip is efficient as possible. It’s been a about a year since I got into thrifting. I’ve learned a few things during that time!

Of course, I can’t link these thrifted dresses. But, I can link what I wore with them!

I’ve found some of my favorite items through thrifting. For example, I have snagged up a: tulle skirt, sheer polka dot dress, and a fit and flair dress. These are pieces that I didn’t even know I needed.

“It’s a great feeling when someone compliments you on a piece of clothing, asks where it’s from, and you get to say, ‘Oh, sorry, it’s thrifted.’ “

So, true, thrifting requires some digging to find the good stuff. Hear me out though – when you score something good, it’s so worth it! I’ve put together three things I do to increase my chances of finding gems.

Think Outside the Box

You can find a piece that, with a little tweaking, can become something amazing. This see through dress, is a bit random, but the cut is right. So, I added a tank top and a midi skirt underneath for volume. This could also be worn with a tank and jeggings.

Start with the larger sizes then go down

Brands are super inconsistent when it comes to sizing. You know this is especially true if you have curves! I got into this topic in a previous post here. The right fit is the foundation of a worthwhile item. Therefore, focus on fit and start with the racks with the larger sizes. You may find an item that fits that you otherwise would have missed. For example, take this fit and flair dress! It was in the higher plus size range section. I could have easily missed it.

Follow Your Gut and Take a Risk

One of the things I like most about thrifting is all of the unique of items. I try to take style risks every now and then. However, I don’t want to waste money if something doesn’t work out. No one wants buyers remorse! Thrifting gives you a little nudge to do something different. For instance, this paisley shirt dress is little busier than my typical dresses. But, I just loved it once I put it on.
