How to Rock a Matching Set Three Ways

A matching set is great. Being able to wear the pieces separately in a variety of ways is even better! I got a few ways to do that.

"Is it possible to style a matchy-matchy set other than the way it as intended? (Answer: hell yes.)"

Wear It Together

Wearing both pieces together is a no-brainer. I think that is what most of us like about sets – the ease of them. Just throw it on and go!  Additionally, I like when a set looks like a dress instead of two pieces.

Now, let’s look at the other ways to wear it!

Wear The Top Separately

I like to pair my tops from sets with jeans. Keep it simple! This brings a bit of a casual vibe. It makes the top versatile. We are into that!

Additionally, I like to wear the top in a different way. For instance, wearing it as an off the shoulder top. That gives me a completely different look.

Wear The Skirt With Something Else

I like to add a basic white shirt with skirts for a refined feel. Fit is important (isn’t always important?!) with this one.  Go with a structured shirt that skims your frame. That will make skirt standout.

Also, keep the top simple. That will avoid it competing with the skirt. It will keep the skirt as the focal piece of the look!

Let’s talk about some tips to snag a versatile set! I try to go with simple fabrics with not a lot going on. That allows the pieces to be dressed up or down. Also, go with the colors you already wear. That will make it easier to pair the top or bottom with other items.

Finally, I don’t spend too much money on my sets. Instead, I envision all the ways I can wear top and bottoms. Alright, those are my tip! As always, have fun!
