I was in Target (shocking, I know) in the women’s clothing section when I happened to walk by this dress. The bold polka dot print caught my attention. I was drawn to the flowy style of the dress. And, it has pockets! But I was torn… could I pull this off? Then I had an idea…
Alright, so my idea was to add a belt. I love the fullness of this maxi. At the same time, I wanted some structure. I don’t know about you, but sometimes these flowy dresses don’t work for my shape. They look fantastic on the hanger and frump-fest on me. We don’t want that, right?
Adding a belt created a nice silhouette while keeping the flowy vibe of the dress. This dress works with or without a belt.
I really try to stay away from pieces that are good in theory but don’t work for me. It can be so hard when you see something that looks so cute though. Luckily, my family will tell me if something is not looking right before I head out the door!
Here is a video with this polka dot maxi dress!
Adding a belt created a nice silhouette while keeping the flowy vibe of the dress. This dress works with or without a belt. Just depends on the vibe I am going for. I wore it to lunch the other day.
This maxi may be a little too much drama for work. But I can see myself throwing a denim jacket over this dress as the weather cools down. What is your take of flowy dresses? Do they work for you?
…Because getting dressed (and living life) should feel good!
