Midi skirts can add such a feminine flavor to an outfit. A midi skirt can really make a statement when you add a bold floral print. You don’t want to stop making a statement just because it’s winter, right?

One of the benefits of blogging is that all of my outfits are archived. That allows me to go back and see how my style has evolved. Anyway, I noticed something when was looking through my posts from about a year ago. Although I claimed to love bright colors and prints, my winter outfits didn’t reflect that. I stayed very much in fall/winter tones and prints. I didn’t bust out any floral prints until about March!

My thoughts were that bright colors and prints weren’t in season. Well, that rule got tossed out this winter!

Cue this Target Who What Wear floral midi skirt. Love the bold floral print and soft pleats. As you can see in the photos, this skirt moves with you. So it’s definitely fun to wear. I’m wearing a size 16 and you can get it here.

This skirt is ultra girly so I added a basic Target Who What Wear striped tee to anchor the outfit a bit. I’m wearing a size xl and you can get it here.

Here are my tips for working in florals fall/winter months:

  1. Look for prints that incorporate some darker colors. That way, you can layer with other items that are in season. For instance, this skirt has some black in it. It was easy to pair it with a top that like this one.
  2. Think about anchoring your prints with other pieces with basic prints. I did that with stripes here. You can do that with plaid or polka dots. It keeps the outfit interesting and can add texture to a look. I have another post here that includes floral and plaid.
  3. Go with pieces that can be layered. This allows you to add a jacket, tights, or a turtleneck when it’s chilly.

… Because getting dressed (and living life) should feel good!
