Let’s get real about Valentine’s Day here.

My husband and I stopped going out for a fancy dinner on Valentine’s Day few years ago because:  A. It’s crazy expensive, B. They change the menus, and C. We have to pay for a babysitter too.

So, instead, we keep it simple. We go out on another day (keeps it cost effective) and we avoid the crowds. I keep my outfit simple too. Just mix up some pieces that I can wear again in other ways.

And, that’s what we are Mixing Up in this post!

I got two of my “go to” pieces here: a Boat Neck  Tee and a Pencil Skirt.

Both styles are flattering for Curves (and pretty much any body type).

This Boat Neck Tee is from Target Merona.

As I mentioned in other posts, if I find something that fits me well, I buy more than one.

That’s what I did with this top. So, I have this same one  in a couple different colors. It’s comfy and versatile.  I just make sure that I stick to colors that work with my current wardrobe. I’m wearing an XL in this top.

Now let’s talk about this skirt! This find is from Target’s Who What Wear line. You can’t tell in the pictures but it has pleats in back. Love it.

I’m wearing a size 16. This skirt doesn’t have a lot of stretch in it. So sizing up keeps it comfy and not too tight.

This belt is one of my favorites from JCrew. I bought it on sale a few seasons ago. JCrew is a great spot for interesting accessories. JCrew Factory is less expensive but just as good. I shop there too.

The other accessory I got here is my purse. This fun little purse is also from the Who What Wear line at Target.  I bought it this last fall.

I like mixing the print pattern of black and white. It makes the red “pop” a bit.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a stress fest…

… Because getting dressed (and living life) should feel good!

  1. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation however I to find this topic to be actually one thing that I believe I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely extensive for me. I am looking ahead for your subsequent publish, I will attempt to get the hold of it!
