I put my denim vest to work throughout the seasons. Sometimes you just need a vest to bring an outfit together.

That’s what we are mixing up in this post.

I got this Vince denim vest from Nordstrom, on sale, a few years ago. I like that it’s simple so it can be paired with a bunch of other pieces.

What I like about a denim vest is the structure that it adds to an outfit.

Structure in an outfit, in my opinion, is the secret weapon when you have curves.

Without structure, an otherwise cute outfit can look sloppy.

Here is what I look for in a denim vest:

 Fit, Quality, Wash

Fit –Not all denim vests are created equal. For me, I look for vests that have a flattering fit so that it adds to my outfit. When you have curves, the vest fits best when it hits just above your hips. I stay away from vests that are too short or long.

Too short will cut your shape off and limit what you can pair the vest with. Too long swallows up your curves and adds volume to your look. It can end up looking boxy.

Quality –Having a stiff or rough denim vest is so no fun. So I stick to denim that’s soft and feels good on. If it feels like sand paper chances are you won’t want to put it on.

Wash- I like a wash that’s not light, dark, or too trendy. That way I can wear it with different outfits.
